It's Click Away Time!

One week, one week, one week!  Click Away is one week from today, and I can hardly stand the excitement.  I’ve attended Click Away once before and it was such an amazing experience and now I’m beyond excited to be going this year as an instructor.  This is a top-notch photography retreat and some of the photographers I admire the most will be there, and I’m so ready to learn from them. My class is called From Aww to Awe and we’ll be going over everything you can do in your photography to move past the “aww” (as in nice and cute) to “awe” (leaving the viewer of your photo awe-struck).  It’s such a special topic to me and I’m constantly trying to photograph my boys in a way that is beyond simply cute.  Creating pieces of art from our every day is what drives me to pick up my camera and I just cannot wait to share what I know with everyone.  If you’ll be at Click Away next weekend in Dana Point, CA, I’d love to have you in my class or for you to come say hi.  Getting to hang with like-minded photographers is always such a rewarding, fulfilling experience.

I’m also very excited that Tamron is sponsoriong my class this year.  They were the first company that came to mind for me when it came time to find a sponsor.  I have been a Tamron girl for a long time and about 90% of all my photos are shot with the Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 or the Tamron 70-200mm 2.8.  I figured out really early on in my photography journey that I’m the type of photographer that needs ALLLL the focal lengths and primes just weren’t getting the job done for me.  The versatility of these lenses (not to mention how sharp and quick they are) is just perfect for the type of shooting I do.

So in anticipation of my Click Away gig, sponsored by Tamron, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite images from 2018 shot with my two favorite lenses.

First up, the 24-70mm 2.8.  I would have to say that while I feel like I love both my Tamron lenses equally, my 24-70 just slightly takes the top spot.  If I’m ever not sure what I’m going to be shooting, this is the lens I grab.  It can handle any situation beautifully, it’s not too terribly heavy and it’s razor sharp and quick.

Next, my beloved 70-200mm 2.8.  This was the first zoom lens I ever bought over five years ago and it still holds a special place in my heart.  The compression is just so dreamy, I have to be honest, I love being able to just sit on the front porch and shoot my kids as they play in the front yard.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  If you’d like more info about Click Away or Tamron, I have links below.  Hope to see you there!
