The Start of Storytelling: Photography Basics for the Emerging Storyteller

If you’ve ever looked at your nice, expensive camera and thought, “I wish I knew how to use this thing better,” keep reading. Imagine being able to tell your unique story creatively and capture photos of your children or your daily life that preserve little moments in time. These are the type of photos that are on my walls and it feels so good to be able to glance at my favorite memories daily. I want to teach you how to create photos that you’re proud to hang on your walls too!

With fall quickly approaching, take a second to think about your favorite fall activities. I’ll help you train your eyes to find the moments that matter most during these fun fall months and help you become more confident in using your camera in a way that YOU are in control of the outcome. Not your camera!

NEXT CLASS: TBD

What the Start of Storytelling workshop is about:

»» Easy to implement topics such as light, composition, seeing photographic opportunities, and recognizing the moments you want to capture - all things you can do without extensive camera knowledge to improve your photos fast

»» Basic Gear - what’s out there, what’s affordable

»» Why shoot in manual mode? Brief explanation of the exposure triangle: Shutter, Aperture, ISO

»» Overcoming the, “my kid doesn’t want his or her picture taken” mentality. Taking unposed photos to evoke memories and tell your story.

»» Shooting practice and Q & A

»» 10 students max to allow for ample time for each individual.

»» We’ll laugh, learn, and most importantly, you’ll walk away with a better understanding of how to tell your story through photography.

What this class isn’t:

»» This workshop is not about the business side of photography or how to start your own photography business.

»» This workshop will only briefly cover editing. I recommend a one-on-one mentoring session with me for in-depth editing help.

»» This workshop is not for those who already have a very strong grasp of basic photography concepts.

»» This workshop does not cover posing or prop/backdrop set ups. I shoot very candid, story-telling images, so that is what’s taught.

Take Home:

»» Invitation to private Facebook group for Workshop Attendees for support, questions, & to post photos showing of what you’ve learned!

»» BONUS MATERIAL: 3 Day Photography Challenge where I critique your images ($250 value)

What to Bring:

»» Your camera (a camera with manual settings is strongly recommended), a notebook/pen

»» Your camera manual
